Hi could I have a private post please… my dad died on Saturday of lung cancer I have a 4 year old son without a middle name he hasn’t been baptised could I add my dads name to my sons birth certificate as a middle name if so how would I go about it? Thanks

If you’re planning on getting him christened you will be able to choose the name you would like him to be christened by. My grandma meant a lot to me and my daughter and when she was diagnosed as terminally ill at Christmas time I hurriedly arranged a christening to ensure my grandma would be able to be there. I had her baptised as Isla Mary after my lovely grandma and this is written on her christening certificate although it’s not officially her name. We lost her in February and her being a big part of the christening meant a lot to us all , I’m sorry to hear about your dad xx
No you can’t change child’s birth certificate unless it’s to add father on but you can change it by doing a deed poll
So sorry for your loss. I think it would need to be a deed poll now,I think you can only add or change up to a year old
