Hi everyone , my dilemma is with children’s attendance at school . Okay so I’ve been told that if my daughter has more time of this year they will be taking it further she’s on 91% attendance . She’s only ever of because she’s poorly and this year seems to be quite alot , well a day here an there . Anyhow if she’s of she needs a doctor’s note and today she’s of with a tummy bug , I call my doctor an they can’t fit her in till next Friday! And can’t write a note for her as she’s not seen by a doctor . I can’t take her to the walk in because she’s up and down to the toilet every hour or so . I can’t really leave the house incase she has an accident . I know myself she’s got a tummy bug and it’s a 24 hour thing and she’s got to really stay indoors till it’s gone . My question is what do I say to the school? I can’t take her out & I can’t get her to a GP till next week. They literally want you to send your child in school if they are poorly an then they make the choice to send them home . Anoyes me how they can decide if she’s poorly enough an I’m her mother an I can’t without having a note from a doctor .

  • School year is nearly over? Tell them they’re welcome to come to your house and see for themselves! Doctors have said they won’t be able to fit her in and best thing for her is rest at home! They won’t be able to argue that! As long as doctors will have record of your phone in I see no case for the school!

  • You tell them she is your child you make the decisions ! Fancy asking for a doctors notew for a child it’s ridiculous – ring the local education authority and ask if this is part of process because I’ve never heard any thing so stupid !
