Hi just wonder if I could have a pop.

So I’m 24 and live with my partner, for xmas I was spending the morning with my family and the afternoon with my partners due to me having young siblings and the “magic of it all” we were invited to my mum’s for boxing day which I refused due to family that I can only cope with for a small amount of time, so was going to spend it with my partners, I was going to offer to do something with mine on xmas eve instead but never got to do it as my mum lost her shit and basically said Xmas is about children not adults, and was expecting us to spend most of Xmas there, and made a comment about new year’s being for adults, which would be nice but I’m due my baby on the 29th so I’ll either be a new, sore and tired mum or still possibly be pregnant, I’m not gonna want to do anything.

I made a point of saying that I’m an adult and didn’t want to spend the whole day with certain family, as it unsettles me but of course I’m being selfish and not thinking about others, so I’ve basically said and changed plans so now im spending the whole day Xmas at my partners as its not just Xmas its a family members birthday (unlucky I know) and spending the whole day boxing at my mum’s and offered Xmas eve, then next year swap round or have Xmas at mine,

Just wanted to know if other people struggle keeping there family happy on xmas and how they do it, cause I’m all prepared to burn presents and lay in bed the whole of it.

  • I’ve always spent one year with my parents xmas day and Boxing Day at mother in laws and then the opposite the year after. Then mother in law died and we just had my parents every other xmas day and year after they go my sisters. I don’t think your mother has realised your 24 pregnant uncomfortably and will have your own family next year. Your a adult now and you already did something fair in the first place. I wouldn’t change my plans especially heavily pregnant. For anyone.
