Hiya can i have a pp pls.
We have had to make the heartbreaking decision to have 1 of our very old family dog put to sleep. My 8 year old wants to be there while our dog is put to sleep. Ive explained as best I can whats going to happen and she seems to be coping really well (unlike me) I feel like I should respect her wish to be there as our dog has been here for all of our daughters life. But some of my friends are saying I shouldnt let her be there. I don’t know what to do.

My daughter was 7 when we had to take ours, the vet gave her a special book and she got to hug him til he slept. I honestly think it made it easier for her that she was with him
I think sometimes it can help the greif prosess , it depends on the child . My daughter is the same age and quite mature so I would let her if she really wanted to . Kids can cope better than adults in some situations. If you do then ask your vet to explain the process before they do it .
