  • My daughter started when she was 11. Thankfully we talked about menstruating when she was 9/10. I talked about her body goes through changes as she goes through puberty. She’ll get hair in places, her breasts will start to grow, she’ll sweat a bit more also that she’ll get periods. Explained what a period was (that is was the lining of her womb and that because there wasn’t a baby, that her body shed the blood (I said it in simpler terms)), that there was nothing to be frightened of about it, nearly all girls and women have them, including myself. Told her to expect having stomach ache and headaches. Shown her how pads were used and told her how tampax worked, she went ewww. I got this for my daughter https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Books/Puberty-Periods-all-that-stuff-GIRLS-ONLY/1522786880/ref=pd_sim_14_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=6N0Z48KKJBKFCE4C9470
