I was wondering if there’s anyway you can set up a payment plan with bailiffs, before me and partner got together and moved in together he got himself in debt with council and now they took it to a debt collector we paid of £90 of it and then they requested £90 a month off us which we couldn’t afford, we’ve sat and worked out payments and we are gonna make it work but now they demanding £250 of us which we can’t afford so now they sending bailiffs and I’m so scared that they gonna come while my partner at work and we can’t afford a big amount so just want to offer them the £90, is this possible?

  • Can you add to my post please my partner spoke to them yesterday and today and because he can’t pay the £250 up front today they can’t do anything about it xx

  • Don’t answer the door, they have no legal right to enter your home but if their high court enforcement then that’s a whole different story, not all bailiffs are bad but some do try to scare you into paying higher amounts, if £90 is all you can afford keep paying that, they can’t turn around and say you or your partner haven’t tried to pay the debt off, give them a ring and explain finances z

  • Usually as long as you pay a chunk off they will set up a payment plan but ring them before the bailiff comes once they’ve been to your house the company won’t deal with it and they’ll add a lot on top x

  • They can’t send bailiff if you haven’t missed payment as long as you’ve made all your £90 payments if you’ve missed payments they can
