Is renting privately a bad idea. I am currently in a mother and baby unit with my 11month old. I want to wait for council but there telling me I may be there for 2 years waiting where as if I get private I can go and put down a deposit on anything I want in my price range and then just apply for housing benefit. But all my family are telling me I must wait for council cos it’s the best thing and private is so unpredictable and risky. Is it really that risky to go private. I hate this mother and baby unit and I’m going crazy imagining being there 2 more years. If you were in my position would you wait 2 years for council or just take a private !?
