  • I know why you’re worried, as parents have found their children to have eye cancer whilst using flash on their cameras. If you’re concerned, you need to take your son to get his eyes checked. We cannot diagnose anything on here.

  • You should see your optician it is most probably nothing the angle, lighting, reflection can cause this but it can also be a sign retinoblastoma but try not to worry. I had a picture like this and it was nothing to worry about x

  • This happens to me on pretty much every photo that gets taken of me in the dark. I did get my eyes checked as I knew it was probably the best thing to do but all was fine. I’m sure it’s just the way the light caught his eye when you took the photo but if your worried always best to check xx

  • Always best to get checked. We got my daughter checked after a photo was concerning. Consultant was amazing. Turned out age as thinner than usual optic nerves that reflect the light x

  • I get this on every picture of me with a flash. I have very large pupil that don’t dilate due to having meningitis as child. The bigger his pupil the more likely you’ll see this so being in darker areas will high light it more. Please don’t take up close pics of his eyes with the flash on like others have suggested. It’s very damaging x

  • I would say if any of you are at all worried please please take them to an optician. My cousin lost his left eye due to retina blastoma. Could of been saved if it was detected earlier. May I add that this happened when he was 2, he is now 13 and is completely in the clear of any cancer and manages just like any other boy his age. But it’s so important just to be on the safe side x

  • This happens to me most of the time when I take pictures for example in a darker area of the house it really depends on the angle but if this really concerns u take ur boy to the optician

  • I’m sure when the flash goes off and the turns out it could mean cancer I’ve seen a few stories about it, that’ll be why she’s worried x

  • I’d have assumed lighting at first. Play places aren’t the best of places to take a decent picture. Take one head on at home and see x

  • The poster has obviously read the reports about seeing white in the eyes signifying eye cancer…….this is not what this is….this is light reflection 😒

  • Yes she has a right to be worried it can SOMETIMES be a sign of tumours or other problems

  • A white reflection in the eye when in a picture can indicate tumor or similar for those who aren’t aware

  • Id take him the doctors if your worried but taking a picture with flash on can damadge a young childs eyes x

  • First thing to do is stop panicking. Secondly, take another photo with flash with him looking straight forward. If the white reflection is still there get in contact with an optician as they will be the most likely to see anything. Chances are it is simply just the way the light is reflected in that particular photo. Before panicking always ensure that it presents in other photographs. xx
