Okay thanks, here goes.

Hi all, I’m new to this but after some advice.
My son is 6 years old and is still in pull ups at night, he has been dry since he was 2 during the day.
I have tried everything to get him dry (after 2 failed attempts of him being dry now and then I’ve given up again), I’ve tried limiting drinks after a certain time, waking him up during the night to take him to the toilet, reward charts, treats, you name it I’ve tried it.
I’m not really sure what to try next, any advice greatly appreciated. Thank you x

  • My daughter struggled with this after a very stressful experience at 5 until she was around 11! I had her referred to the incontinence service as tried all of the above, I got very frustrated at times but it went against me and set her back. Firstly, it’s more common than you think, pampers and Huggies make pads for children upto 15 available in mainstream supermarkets so there must be a demand for them… just because no one talks about it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. Also, I would advise you don’t get stressed out over it as he will then stress and it makes it worse. I was told not to withhold drinks just lay off fizzy drinks and stick to milk or water after 6, fruit juice agitates the bladder due to acids. Prompt toileting before bed as normal, do not lift in the night as the brain needs to learn how to wake up when the bladder is full, it won’t understand if you wake him up. Keep using the pads and buy a mattress protector. Feel free to PM if you like 😊
