Please can I get a post:

I posted 2 weeks ago about my partner hitting me. He’s being charged with assault and threats to kill. He admitted everything. However I really regret pressing charges. I know what he did is unforgivable but he’s mentally ill. He had a break down and I think back now and there were so many warning signs leading to it happening. He has never laid a finger on me before so it came from nowhere. I love him so much and I miss him more then anything and so does his child who is with me. He informed me before he was arrested that he’d been to the doctors and got anti depressants also been referred to see someone about his drinking. (Wouldn’t say he’s an alcoholic just doesn’t know when to stop once started). Can I tell the police that I was a relationship back with him once he sorts his head out! I want to take things real slow I don’t want him living with me until atleast Christmas time. He has so much to prove to me. Rules that will be stuck by! I don’t want him to go to jail he has no convictions at all from the past what the chances of him going to prison? How can I approach the police and say this? What will social services do? Obviously if I have to choose between my child and him I’ll always pick my child. I’m in a mess and complete mess. Please no judging thanks x
