I’m looking to get a passport. The problem is I got married and within 5 months he ran off and left me. I never changed my name on anything other than my marriage certificate. I can not locate him to file for divorce. Can I apply for a passport in my original name without getting into trouble. Any advice is greatfully appreciated.

To be fair if you go on a honeymoon straight after your wedding, your passport would still be in your maiden name, and you have more evidence of yourself in your maiden name then your married name, I would just apply in your maiden name x

Yes you can. You don’t need to change your name on anything if you don’t want to. I have a passport in my maiden name. You will just need to send a copy off your marriage certificate and birth certificate with the application.
