I’ve had my 20wk scan today and been told a part of the brain is abnormal shaped. Should be dumb bell shaped but is banana shaped. Also couldnt get view of bottom of spine or heart chambers. Being sent for another scan with a consultant nxt wk but sonographer thinks its spina bifida. I am absolutely devastated. Has anybody else been told this and nxt scan been ok. Or has anyone had a child with this diagnosis and what has the outcome been? I have other children and on my own I dont think I could cope with a disabled child.

Yes my daughter has an abnormal head and her cerebellum was banana shaped instead of dumb bells. She has spina bifida and is amazing! Having a disabled child is hard but the good certainly out weighs the bad. She’s 8 next month and is in mainstream school and doing brilliantly xx
