Ppp, I need some advice please, my 10 year old who has just finished in year 5 at school has brought all her school books home and I’m horrified to find a booklet that all the class have been filling out on drugs and there effects and they have also been told to search the web for talk to frank drug web page. I’m unsure weather I’m right to feel this way and whether I should be upset and questioning school on not asking for my permission before teaching all this to my daughter? HELP!!

  • It’s part of the national curriculum, teachers have to teach the effect of drugs and alcohol on the human body as part of Science. Then come in the objectives for PSHE. Wouldn’t you rather your child received the correct information from someone who will have taught them rather than leaving until the time when they get out into the world and come across them?

  • I think it’s a good idea it will fill them with plenty of knowledge about how dangerous they are if kids go through life protected from dangerous aspects of life when they are older they might be naive in some situations it sometimes is good to tell the truth about things in order to open their eyes for growing up xxx

  • Are you sure school haven’t mentioned it on any newsletters etc you’ve received? As a teacher we send a half termly newsletter which outlines what we are teaching in each subject.

  • I think the school should of informed you of what they was learning but i also do think its essential children younger and younger are becoming aware of and in cases taking drugs. Iv often heard of drug addicts saying theyve been taking drugs since they was teen or pre teens.
