Ppp… My son is almost 2.5years he loves to walk but for the school runs it’s easier with a buggy. Im wondering what your opinions are on the age that’s good to stop using it. As being summer hols coming up I thought I’d give it a try but would like some advice please. I am also potty training throughout summer holidays too. He already uses the toilet and potty but not when we go out. Thanks in advance xx

  • Just go out for short walks without the pushchair. Then gradually build it up. But you know as a mum….. don’t worry about anyone else being judgemental. Nobody knows what your life is like with or without a pushchair, but just try and encourage him. It’s tiring for little legs.

  • All mine were out of a buggy before the age of 2.5 except my youngest. My youngest is 4 and still uses a buggy, she’s so teeny tiny for her age so I think I’ll get away with using it for another few months!

just gradually build up walks, I know it can be a bit of a pain in the arse when you’re trying to get somewhere but allow extra time for your journey. Summer holidays are the best time to start, good luck! X

  • I kind of just went by the “if they can walk they don’t need the buggy” scenario. Although it can be hard when you’re trying to get out somewhere, I know. Maybe throughout the summer try walking to and from the school, shops etc and time how long it takes. This will give you a better indication of what time you’ll roughly need to leave the house in the mornings.

  • My daughter has just turned 2 this month and haven’t been in a pram since end of Feb. She was also 3 months early.
It may be quicker putting them in a pram but my little one loves walking and we set off earlier to allow time for her to walk and have breaks etc (obviously don’t take her on massive walk everywhere)
I’ve seen so many people keeping a child in a pram and it has stopped them walking as they become use to just sitting in a pram.

  • If he still has naps during the day I would carry on using it. My 2.3 Year old loves to walk everywhere. However long distances we use the stroller because she tends to have a nap.

  • My 3 year old son went from buggy to piggy back after a week, we’d moved to Falmouth and everywhere was a steep hill so a good enough reason to stop
