Ppp..

This will probably cause abit of a debate but anyway.. my partners mum is an alcoholic. She has gone her longest without a drink which is 7 months. This weekend she had 2 drinks and stopped. We’ve been expecting her to be drunk this week but unlike what usually happens, she’s still sober. She’s now saying that she’s going to have “a drink or two” on special occasions such as Christmas. Am I right in thinking this is a bad idea? Surely once you’ve had a bad alcoholic problem, you shouldn’t drink at all? I feel like it will slip back to how she used to be.. I’m still shocked she actually stopped at 2 at the weekend. I don’t personally feel comfortable either at the dinner table at Christmas if she has a drink, as I know what it can lead to and I don’t want to sit and watch it happen.

Opinions please?

Can an alcoholic go back to just “a drink or two” or should they never touch a drop!?

Thank you
