ppp,

this might be confusing, so please bare with. i know that the father has to be present at the registration of a baby for him to be able to go on the birth certificate, but has it always been like that?? has the father always have had too been present or back in the day could the mother put the father on with out him knowing? it’s just come to light that my dad has been paying Child maintenance to a secret lady, now he says he never went on the birth cert. but surly he would have had to have some proof if the child was his too pay maintenance to this lady right? I’m so confused right now. this secret child would be the age between 13/14-16/17. I’m so confused right now sorry if this makes no sence. ??

  • Back then they did DNA tests to determine it. You could put a father on the cert when he is not present if you are married and have marriage cert.

  • Only way any dad can be on bc without being there is if they were married. If he wasn’t on the bc then he must have known he was the dad to pay maintenance. Or if the mum went through csa and he denied it they would have made him do a DNA test. If he refuses to do a DNA they class that as admitting he’s the dad so make him pay x
