Can I have a private post please. My son is 19 months old, and I am getting really concerned about him hitting and smacking a lot, he has 2 older siblings but I just don’t understand where he is even getting it from as there is not anyone hitting or even anything like that he could see. When he does it, it’s not generally when he is upset or cranky, he can literally be laughing and running about and it’s almost as if he gets giddy and excited and will just hit, like he sees it as a game. I’ve read up what I can and for the last couple of weeks I have just tried to gently block him and softly say, no that’s not a nice thing to do etc, but try to not make a big thing out of it. I can’t say its made any difference as he still constantly does it. He is quite boisterous and is constantly running and messing with everything, so I’m hoping it is just a phase and it doesn’t become a behaviour problem in future. Any advise on how other mums have managed this would be great.
