Can you do me a post please? Just want to know if its safe to let an 18month old sleep in her pushchair overnight? Shes got croup and everytime she falls asleep she coughs and wakes herself up. Shes got one of those vapour things on snuffle babe with socks on feet and a pillow under matress but still cant sleep in her cot however she is sleeping well in the pushchair on a slightly lifted so not totally flat but not sat up but unsure about leaving her there over night

  • I’ve spent plenty of nights on the settee with a poorly baby in the buggy at the side of me. Sometimes they can breathe a lot better sat more upright. Just check the straps cant tighten round her neck if she slides dawn in her sleep.

  • I used to put a pillow under the cot mattress to slightly raise it up a bit, but the baby might feel more comfortable and relaxed in her Pram it won’t do no harm as a one off to be honest, if the baby gets a better sleep what harm is it causing

  • Should b fine. Put pram next to your bed so u can check on them during the night. U could also prop cot mattress up. Put a pillow or 2 under mattress or anything uv got. Hope little ones feeling better soon

  • My little boy had croup really bad, I sat him in the bathroom with the shower running on hot and kept door and windows closed. Then raised his cot mattress by propping it. Also a wet towel on the radiator will help and have your window open slightly xx

  • I would let her sleep where she’s comfy as long as she’s safe. My LG had croup while we were on a caravan holiday when she was 2. My hubby stayed Sat up with her leaning on him one night so she could sleep! ( We also had a 2 month old who I was breastfeeding at the time) x

  • I’ve done it with my daughter when she had croup. I boiled water from a kettle put it in a jug and put snuffle babe in that and left it on the radiator, had the window open a bit just so the air wasn’t so dry, humidifiers work aswel if you can get even a cheapy second hand one, it moistens the air a bit. Its horrible to see them go through, hope little one is better soon x

  • If her legs are dangling i wouldn’t as she could get a blood clot but if her lower legs are inline with her back and bottom should be ok for a few hours. May not be supportive enough for all night.

  • If you have a small kitchen shut windows and doors and boiler the kettle with the lid open that will give you the steam which you can’t get from the hot tap x my daughter suffers alot with coughs

  • I think most of us have done this and no its not a habit, its a help so I’d say go for it…I’d be more worried about my baby not sleeping than where when they’re not well

  • Sounds crazy but get her out in the cold for a short amount of time when the croup cough is bad, it helps the airways and also do the steaming too

  • Yes. Its just tiny babies are not allowed to sleep in car seats. Hate croup, my daughter keeps getting it, so scary. Hope baby is okay xx

  • It’s not ideal for a toddler to sleep the whole night in their pushchair as it’s not good for them at all . And isn’t the comfiest to sleep in all night x
