Could i have a private post please, I don’t want any grief im mortified and so shuck up! My 9 month old daughter choked today on an organix biscuit, the banana ring ones! She literally went blue i was crying my eyes out but managed to get it out quick enough before things got any worse, she was so limp but was crying after getting it dislodged and is absolutely fine now thank God! Anyway i googled what happened and there is an article about a 7 month who did the same with the same biscuits and they were recalled apparently, im unsure what to do these clearly need to have a higher age or something, would you complain or not?

Thousands of kids eat these without choking. A small child tragically choked to death on a grape, hundreds of thousands of children eat them every single day… Unfortunately choking is a sad scenario but its not always down to the food I’m afraid. Anyone can choke at any age too. I wouldn’t personally complain I’d just be spending time with my baby.

This is my post thankyou so much ladies, she went blue and so limp i felt like i was losing her but she’s back to her happy self so she should be fine! I am definitely complaining, luckily we knew what to do when a baby is choking some parents may not and i would hate for a baby to lose their life because of something that should no longer be on the market x

Any food can be a chocking hazard like others say. It’s just an upsetting situation.
I think the age recommendation is just that ‘a recommendation’ I have had 2 completely different children. My first could cope with many different foods at a young age my second gaged and chocked on many items I just had to think about what I gave based on his ability to cope. I’d treat this as a really tough learning curve and just avoid giving for a few more months.

Same thing almost happened to my son with these biscuits about the same age! Luckily I managed to get it out very quickly but it scared him and me both. Totally agree they are definitely not soft enough for babies under 1! I would complain. Your wee girl must have been really shook up, glad she’s ok. I think especially for first time parents, the guidelines on suitable ages are important in the decisions you make on what to give them, at least until you’ve been doing it a while. Maybe you could help by bringing attention to it.

I don’t think making a complaint would really do any good, they would have to have been quite rigorously tested for them to be on the shelves in the first place, which is probably the response u will get from the company, unfortunately this can happen with anything my daughter was given all kinds of foods as a baby and was fine yet managed to have a huge choking fit at the age of 4 on a wotsit, x

Glad she is ok how scary! My boy has never had these but I bought a pack in Asda the other day to try him on (not tried yet and this has put me off trying!). If they have been recalled why are they still on the shelves for sale?!

My son been eating them since he was 6/7 months and hasn’t choked.. some children don’t chew their food properly and it happens – even adults can choke on their food, I’ve done it a fair few times! I personally wouldn’t complain..
Glad your child is okay x

If they were recalled then as a company they have done their bit, you can complain but you won’t get far as with regards to liability you made the choice to give your child a recalled item. Learn from it and just be cautious. My daughter aged 7 months choked on a biscuit, my husband dislodged it and we learnt from it, these things happen x

I really don’t think it’s the food. Babies can choke on anything even puree food!! Blw babies have things much stronger for example stake and have no problems at all. It all depend on the baby

There’s a choking risk with anything. I blended a chicken dinner for my 1st. Didn’t realise she was gathering the strings of chicken together into a ball and choked on that. My dad saved her life. I was much more cautious after that.

I only saw on there fb page about them being recalled, not one shop I’ve been in had anything up as they usually do with items on recall, so maybe worth emailing them, they may contact places they supply too, i hope your little one is ok xx

Definitely email the company just for your peace of mind. And do a little research on what to do if babies choke, I did and my daughter hasn’t choked yet but just knowing what to do makes it a little less scary

I don’t give my 8 month old anything more than wafers and puff crisps because of this I’m scared to death he’s teething so is biting through anything at the minute x

I’d definitely send them an email just so they’re aware could save another baby from going thru it . Glad your little girl is okay and well done for reacting so well & getting it out in time x

I’m really sorry about your daughter and yourself having to go through this, it must have been absolutely terrifying although in reality anyone can choke on anything at any age, although if you feel you need to complain then that’s completely up to you and your choice, your doing it for the safety of children xxx

I hope you’re alright, this is my biggest fear, just the thought of it makes me panic. I gave these biscuits to my son a few times but I didn’t like how hard they were, they definitely don’t seem right for babies but how are we to know without trying? I think you should do whatever will make you feel better about it, if complaining to them will help you get it off your mind then I think you should. Again I hope you’re alright xx

My 10 month old son has the same problem with two Bannana ring organix ones they just don’t dissolve enough when he bites so never tried them again I try most things now if I can’t do it with out biting I tend not to let him unless I know his use to it or its very soft it’s so scary I’m glad your little one is okay xxx
