Hi can I have a pp please
Looking for advice, I’ve been offered a house today with a housing association I accepted the offer as I’ve been bidding on homes for just over a year, and I honestly cant live here much longer one of the neighbors is an absolute nightmare it feels like I can’t even let the kids play as the slightest noise he hears then he starts I’ve had god knows how many arguments I’ve had with him even my partner we’ve literally had enough. I rang my current landlord to give notice and ask for a reference. Because my tenancy doesn’t end until February there saying I’m liable for the rent until then. I’ve asked if the estate agent would speak to the landlord to come to an arrangement with paying it they then said he may want it all paid upfront. My question is if I pay it all upfront and then they let it before February they would be getting two lots of rent as I would of paid up until February can they do this? There’s nothing at all in my tenancy about ending it early so I had no idea until I rang today to give them my notice.

  • Read your tenancy agreement very carefully,, if it doesn’t say that you would be liable for rent if you leave early then you won’t owe it, if it was to say that then yes you would but just be extra careful x

  • If its not stated in your tenancy, I’m pretty certain that can’t be done. Is there anything at all about a notice period in there? I would speak to CAB or a solicitor. I think they’re trying to have their cake and eat it. Sounds like BS to me. You should have a notice period though which is usually between 4-8 weeks x

  • There trying to con you if there’s nothing in your tenancy agreement then you are within your right to give your months notice and leave they can’t make you pay anything hun just watch they don’t try to keep your deposit xx
