Hi can I have a ppp? I’m currently 9 weeks pregnant & we have a holiday booked to Mexico for xmas myself, my partner & the two children. At the time of travel I will be around 20 weeks. I have heard about the Zika virus that can cause birth defeats in unborn babies if contacted through mosquito bites on pregnant woman? Ive googled none stop about this finding mixed reviews I just don’t know what to think. Worse case is we don’t go on holiday. This holiday has been booked for 20 months it’s took us all that time to pay off and cost thousands my kids are so excited and my partner wants to travel long haul so changing destinations isn’t really an option as most long haul places have a risk of the virus. I remember a couple of years ago when it was headline news etc I was pregnant at the time, but I’ve not heard anything about it since. Obviously this was a surprise pregnancy, has anybody been to Mexico we’re u bitten? Any advice regarding this would be very much appreciated thanks x

Personally I would go and see your go explain your concerns and see if there is anything they can do or advise , stock up on mosquito repellent and get creams that have it in
Best off speaking to midwife/GP and getting any injections ASAP if you need to do you can still go, pregnancy shouldn’t stop you from flying, x
If I were you I’d postbone it till babies here or not go. If u go have a prevention fund, To buy expensive bite preventer. If that were me and say not the best outcome comes with baby, noone can get mad. Everyone’s fault bar the kidsx
