Hi can i have a private post please? I have a little lad and no problems in the pregnancy, all went well with pregnancy and the birth. 3 years after this i had a blood clot and after tests found out this was due to a genetic condition called Factor V Laiden (1 gene afftected) Im now thinking of trying for baby number 2 but they have said at hospital (check up with haematology) that i would need extra care if i became pregnant again as its the estrogen hormone that can cause further clots. Anyone been through this or know the risks which would be involved with the pregnancy? Thanks

Haven’t been through this however I was at risk of blood clots in my pregnancy and they gave me a really small dose of aspirin and all was well, it might be worth asking for a referral to a Gynae obstetrician for them to be able to give u pre conception advice

I’m prone to blood clots and have a 7 month old, most of my pregnancy I had to have clexine the injections you do in your stomach at same time each day which ain’t as bad as it sounds just gets a bit awkward the bigger you get but so much better then the alternative, it does mean your more at risk of heamorging at delivery cos your blods been thinned but I didn’t have no problems like that but was under a high risk team of midwives but was lucky. I have FVL myself hun, the one gene strain as well. Basically you normally take aspirin from the time you’re TTC onwards. As soon as you get pregnant, you also need to go onto clexane injections daily. You’re normally referred to the EPU early on for an early scan as well. And you’re watched more closely to make sure baby is growing and that everything is OK. If you need to chat, inbox me 🙂 xx
