Hi can I have a private post please. Just seeing if anyone has any experience with a similar situation. So in 2008 I met and married a man from Iraq. He claimed visa thru our marriage. I was young and naive. I thought he loved me and we are going to be together. After 2.5 years it came out that he was gambling and it got really bad. I tried to help but he choose the freedom to gamble so 3.5 years into marriage I left. We kept in touch and I promise I’ll help him regardless. He was suppose to pay off all the debt he got me into while married ( over 5000£) but never did. Time went on we we got divorced and I moved on got a family of my own. He asked me to help him two years ago and I did my research and find out from immigration that if I was to help him I’d become responsible for him like a sponsor. I said to him I’m sorry but I’ve got a family now kids and I won’t be able to help. He went mad and now is trying to get me to court and scare me with solicitor. I rang immigrant and been to Solicitor and they all said since we are divorced nothing he can do to me. I moved changed numbers so he can’t find me but still I’m worried 😩 I don’t want this to hang over me all my life!!!! Anyone know anyone in my situation or been there and can offer some advise please !? Thanks xx
