Hi, please can I have a post.. I am so upset.
I am 35 weeks pregnant…
Before I fell pregnant I had a really bad back and took codeine daily for the pain (aswell as seeing drs/ chiropractors etc).
Since I have been pregnant I have still been taking codeine but only when absolutely necessary, probably once every few nights as the pain hasn’t been as bad (a miracle I know).
I have just been to the anaesthetist and they have told me I will be staying in hospital for 5 days after the birth of my boy to monitor everything from sneezes to poops to make sure the codeine hasn’t affected him.
I made sure at all of the appointments I’ve been to with drs/ midwives etc that I am fine taking codeine and that it’s not harmful to baby and now really worried that I should have been made aware of this! All I was told is that closer to labour they would advise cutting down to ensure baby wasn’t born sleepy.
Has anyone else taken codeine throughout pregnancy? If so, I could do with some positive comments.
