Hiya, can I get a ppp

This isn’t a question, more of a request. I have seen a lot of posts recently regarding mental health issues, it’s absolutely brilliant that people are reaching out and seeking advice! What’s not brilliant is the fact that so many people when asking “should I tell my doctor or will they take my kids away” a lot of comments are telling the poster to lie and deceive the professionals. Example : a lady posted about her anxiety issues and that she felt suicidal, commenters encouraged her not to tell her psychologist about these feelings because they would involve social services! This is scare mongering and absolutely irresponsible! NEVER EVER lie and try to bury your head when it comes to mental health! Always talk and be honest! Hiding these feelings cost lives! And I think we all have a responsibility on here to not be accepting advice that could be dangerous! Just something to think about for anyone wanting to jump on a sensitive post with unhelpful and UNTRUE information… thank you

  • Thank you! Unless you are deemed completely unfit due to your mental health issues there will not be an issue! You won’t get the correct support if you do lie and you’ll decide that counselling and medication doesn’t work at all… You’ll make yourself worse by lying and possibly go into the territory of actually acting on suicidal thoughts or losing your kids due to your mental health making you incapable of looking after your kids. I have had social services intervention due to mental health – in a support setting. Ie they made home visits to see how I was coping, if I needed help. Even got Christmas presents last year for my child and discharged within 6 months due to them seeing my mental health issues are managable and I didn’t need SUPPORT any more. Not once did they try to remove my child or access to my child. 👍 All they have an interest in is ensuring your child is well looked after despite your mental health. PS, I have 5 diagnosed mental health disorders. I am deemed fully capable of looking after my child and supervising contact without social services intervention. 👌 xx
