Im so exhausted! My 23 month old son has a terrible coughing all day and night which is constant. The cough has been going on for 5 weeks but the constant cough to the point where he gags or is sick has been going on for around 5 days. Weve been to the doctors twice where he was given antibiotics (they finish on Tuesday) and he already has a blue inhaler (4 puffs 4 times a day). Weve raised his cot so he is right up. Everytime he coughs at night he cries which is understandable and wakes up so weve pretty much not slept for the past 4 nights! I feel so bad, im his mum but im really struggling with it all, lack of sleep and the constant coughing is just so draining on the whole family. Its caused numerous arguments with myself and my partner and its just getting me really down. I suffer with depression and im just really struggling with it all. Im not really sure what im hoping to get out of this post….maybe hearing some of your experiences in the same position? Thank you

I totally know where your coming from, my son who’s now 10 was exactly like this when he was 6 months…I was so exhausted, he would cough literally all night, until he was sick, then started all over again, this went on for 3/4 weeks, took him to drs several times in these weeks, and was told everytime it’s viral, it will go….but one night he just looked so so poorly, so took him to the out of hrs GP, who took one look at him, without examining him and said “This is a poorly baby, take him straight to hospital” once there try did an x-ray, which showed several patches of pneumonia, he was then in hospital for two weeks, on IV antibiotics, and as a result developed Pneumonia….I remember dreading putting him to bed because I knew the cough would start, and I’d have another night where I had no sleep….please know this, your doing amazingly, and you will get through this… sending massive hugs xx
