I need some advice regarding how to approach professionals about my mental health.

When I was 15 (21 now) I knew there was something wrong with me mentally. I was on anti-depressants as I was self harming so they thought i was just depressed, which I still am. However, I’ve not been able to shake this feeling that something is wrong with me, so Ive done research and the symptoms of “borderline personality disorder” literally describe me to a T. I broke down and have been worrying about it for the past few days as lots of things suddenly became a lot clearer. Obviously I can’t diagnose myself, but I was wondering how, as an adult you approach someone about your mental health? Baring in mind I’m a mother aswell. I’m terrified about the stigma attached to having a mental health condition and being a parent. However, I need to get help and see if there is something wrong with me. Any advice is welcome, please no basing though, had a tough enough time as it is
