Can I have a private post please:

My 9 year old has come home from school today really upset. A letter was sent out last week gauging interest for a circus skills workshop as a school trip. There was no date or deadline on the letter it was just to be filled in and return of your child would be interested in this. We returned it 2 days later as granted I completely forgot about it the first day (3 kids and a business to run and can’t always be super mum). Anyway today she was told that because she wasn’t one of the first 30 to respond she can’t go on the trip. To let you understand there are 40 kids in her class and not all wanted to go so I’d estimate there are around 5 who have been disappointed. The trip has to take place during school hours and the kids not going will be working in class as normal. All my daughter’s friends are going and she is devastated to miss out. My question is am I right to be angry about this and should I send my daughter to school that day or keep her home to avoid further upset? Thanks
