Please can I have a post?
I’m just looking for a bit of advice.

So me & my ex split up a while ago – we have 2 small children toegther. He has not seen them in 6 months.
The main point is, I am planning on moving to another city (an hour & a half away). I want to be closer to family & start fresh as iv been through a lot. However he found out & got in contact saying that I need his permission to move. (He is on the BC) …. his trying to prevent me from moving. Can he actually do this? Its not like im leaving the Country, I will just be in another City. If he wanted to see the kids I wouldn’t stop him and I would make the effort to travel. Im just so confused, I don’t no what to do. X

  • There is currently no legal requirement to obtain either consent or permission of the court to move a child within the UK. This can prove to be a significant problem when, following separation, one parent makes a decision to move away from the other.
In contrast, if one parent decides to relocate outside of the UK, they are required by law to either obtain the written consent of every other person with parental responsibility for the child, or alternatively obtain the permission of the court to relocate
